Life has existed in this region since ancient times, viticulture since Roman times. Where you create and give fine wines, you also feel good. The microclimate of the place is exceptional, as is the unique medicinal water of Hévíz, which is at your fingertips. Keszthely, the largest city in the West-Balaton, the cultural center of the Zala County area, in a word, the city of opportunities will be separated from your future home by only five minutes by car.
Cserszegtomaj is located at the southwestern foot of the Keszthely Plateau. The first written records date from the 12th century, then Cserszegtomaj consisted of Cserszeg and Tomaj until 1846, when they were united. According to some opinions, the houses were built from tan (tree type), which was reinforced with nails, hence the name Cserszeg. At the same time, our ancient word “nail” can also refer to the corner, a prominent, exceptional place, which, incidentally, was the settlement of the Tomaj family at the time of the conquest. Many people are interested in the good air and great panorama of the settlement, which preserves its mountain village character in its atmosphere. In 1992, Ferdinánd Takács, a painter born in Cserszegtomaj, founded the Cserszegtomaj Free Art Creative Colony, which has been operating as an international artists' colony ever since. Many people from abroad also come here to capture this captivating sight on canvas. If your eyes shine when you hear the name of the village, it is no coincidence that one of the most popular varieties of the wine-consuming community of Hungary is Cserszeg, which is the great pride of the settlement. Károly Bakonyi was the first to create this succulent wine from the cross between Irsai Olivér and the red tramini. The village appreciates his work and oeuvre, as he is an outstanding figure of Hungarian wine culture and his scientific records still help the work of winemakers and winemakers all over the country.
